Post by Pav » Sun Jun 14, 2020 12:11 pm

Meeting time: 14:30
Convoy briefing: 14:45
Drive start: 15:00
Drive terrain: Picturesque dunes ending on the red sands of Jebel Meleiha (or Fossil Rock)
Drive will end at sundown

Please be punctual so we can maximise our time on the sand!

COVID 19 PREVENTION MEASURES
A. At the meeting point, please park the vehicles at least 5 metres apart and observe standard social distancing practices.
B. Face mask and gloves to be worn at all times.
C. No shaking hands, hugging or any other physical contact.
C. Max 3 persons per vehicle, or 5 if from the same family staying in the same house.
D. Drive briefing will be carried out by radio, so please tune to Channel 7 (462 712.50) once your tyres are deflated and flag is mounted, so you are ready to await instructions and to drive.
E. Drivers AND passengers should remain in their vehicles, after deflating their tyres and NOT meet or socialise with other participants.
F. No sharing of any food or drinks.
G. No sharing of any equipment, tow topes, shackles, radios or any other accessory.
H. In the event of a recovery, please radio your position in the convoy and vehicle - a marshal will advise you on how to self recover or will assist.

c) Recovery rope / strap.
d) Compatible radio pre-programmed to DO frequencies.
e) Refreshments for you and your passengers (if you have them).

Etiquette:
1) Registering and not coming along may stop others from joining and is easily avoidable - so please be courteous and withdraw if you can't make it.
2) Be punctual.
3) Avoid bringing along unregistered participants without prior permission.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and prepare properly - see you on the sand!

Hi Muhammad, you can visit Dragon Mart or check this site; Edragonmall.com (they have a large selection of radios and can even deliver).

Crony 888 is one I have and it’s very good or Baoefeng 9UVR...

Hope you get sorted quickly!

Hi,

Welcome to Dubai Offroaders!

You need a flag with a mount, preferably not a suction cup one and a radio that you know how to tune.

Let us know if you need any assistance arranging those items.

Hi
I am a total first timer in sand. I have 2017 FJ with no mods. My FJ have air compressor, both recovery points and flag(not suction type) I have purchased Baofeng uv-5R radio. I am missing recovery/snatch rope and shackles. Is it a must? Which rope and shackle to buy if its a must.

Thank you

Hello and welcome! You have everything you need for your first drive and if you need to be recovered, we will help you! We can advise you on how to self recover or should you need to be towed, you can stay in your car and we can sort it out for you (for reasons of safety re Covid 19).

Look forward to seeing you Friday!
