Offroad Walkie Talkie FAQ

Post by Hamza Ahmad » Tue Jan 03, 2012 8:23 am

Hello Dubai Offroaders members. I have noticed confusion about the operation and the frequencies used in our offroad walkie talkie. As we all know, walkie talkie is essential for communication and safety of the drivers and the passengers on all our drives. I thought, I shall give you a simple walk through of the frequencies used. The frequencies used are:

Channel ----- Frequency (MHz)

1---------------- 462.5625
2---------------- 462.5875
3---------------- 462.6125
4---------------- 462.6375
5---------------- 462.6625
6---------------- 462.6875
7---------------- 462.7125
8---------------- 467.5625
9---------------- 467.5875
10--------------- 467.6125
11--------------- 467.6375
12--------------- 467.6625
13--------------- 467.6875
14--------------- 467.7125

Corrections or additions to anything I said are most welcome.

Can we know the details of shops where we can purchase the equipment? Understand that, it is available somewhere in Dragon Mart, However if we can get the shop reference or contact number it will be more helpful.

Thanks & regards

These Walikie Talkie / radios in which you can manually set the frequencies ( e.g Crony, Quansheng etc... which are used by 80 % n offroad community) are banned/not allowed with our permission from TRA. and it seems authorities are using iron fist to implement this ban now because now you will not find these on display in any shop in dragon mart, instead they have place the pre-set frequency two ways walkie talkies. however one can try and might find any luck.

Someone told me walkie talkies are not allowed in UAE. Presumably then this is not correct? If so, where can I get one?

I had been to China Mall Ajman. Those radios available there are useless. They will refer you to Dragon Mart for good radios :(
